In this episode Blooms walks south of the River Liffey. (Today, Nichols the
undertakers still flourishes.)
Entering All Hallows Church, Bloom finds
that a communion mass is in progress and he takes a quiet seat in the corner
from which he can observe the proceedings. At Sweeny’s Bloom orders some
skin lotion for Molly and buys some lemon soap.Outside Sweeny’s Bloom unwittingly
gives Bantam Lyons a tip for a horse race: Throwaway.
