Episode 6 was finished in Zurich in May 1918 and published
in The Little Review, September 1918.
Many of the characters who inhabit the pages of Ulysses are buried in
Glasnevin Cemetery, Bloom muses: "how many! All these here
once walked round Dublin."
No exact location for Paddy's Dignam's grave is given. However we do know that this episode is based
on the real funeral of a Matthew F.Kane, which took place in July 1904 which was attended by
many of the people who appear as characters in Ulysses, including
Alfred H. Hunter, a model for the Bloom character.
Kane's funeral was the model for Patrick Dignam's,
and his grave is in
the St. Brigid's section of the cemetery. It is as good a spot as any to
designate as Dignam's final resting place.
